SecureAuth IEP
Solutions for Google Postini

SecureAuth IEP Extends Strong Authentication, SSO and IdM Services to Google Postini Services From Your Directory

Over 18 million users are protected by Google Postini Services. Google's patented real-time, pass through architecture work with web and cloud-based email systems to stop spam, viruses, phishing, denial of service, and other attacks before they reach your network. Unfortunately, many legitimate emails become casualties of spam filters and this poses a huge problem for users who are responsible for checking their spam filters – a task that many users either don’t remember how to do or simply don’t do often enough. In addition, administrators have to periodically logon to users’ accounts to perform maintenance or trouble shoot an individual’s account.

To alleviate the pain for both groups, organizations need to implement single sign on (SSO) and often 2-Factor authentication to Postini’s quarantined messages while maintaining control of their own user identities and method of authentication. To support this functionality, Postini enables enterprises to control authentication using the Security Access Markup Language (SAML) protocol. Conversely, becoming an identity provider (IdP) and integrating your environment using SAML can be expensive and requires changes to your environment that leave you with a proprietary solution to maintain.

Secure, Simple Access to Google Postini Services

SecureAuth is an Identity Enforcement Platform (IEP) that secures and simplifies access to cloud, web and VPN resources with integrated 2-Factor Authentication, SSO, Access and User Management Services. For web and cloud-based email applications, SecureAuth works with Postini and acts as an identity provider for users and administrators to control usernames, level of authentication and other information used to identify, authenticate and authorize users. And it’s simple! A user attempts to login to Postini’s quarantined message center and a SAML authentication request is automatically redirected to SecureAuth. SecureAuth parses the request, authenticates the user to an organization’s directory (Activity Directory), and generates a SAML response to Postini for verification. Once verified, the user is automatically logged in to the Postini quarantined message center.

SecureAuth doesn’t require APIs or application modifications. With SecureAuth SSO, an administrator determines the level of authentication (if required) and only one set of authentication credentials is needed to create a single login experience for all cloud applications. Furthermore, users don’t have to remember separate passwords and administrators aren’t flooded with calls to reset forgotten passwords. Plus, the same credentials support web, desktop and VPN resources. And your authentication credentials are securely stored on-premise in Microsoft Active Directory or other industry leading directories.
